Prednisone For Bronchitis: Prednisone/Asthma/Chronic Bronchitis
Second opinion from an university pulmonologist rediagonosed as persistent eosinophilic pnuemonia (CEP) following one blood test that demonstrated above-standard levels of eosinophils and the general effectiveness of steroids. Several months ago, I was rediagnosed as having intrinsic asthma as following blood tests showed no elevated levels of lung scans and eosinophils demonstrated no infiltrates by yet another university pulmonologist. So it now appears I 've asthma joined with perpetual bronchial diseases (chronic bronchitis).
When the bronchial disease clears I can get down to about 15mg of Prednisone for a couple of days. I 'd be interested in learning if you can find others with the mixture of asthma and chronic bronchitis that are on Prednisone and what your dosage is. Could it be better to stay on high dosage and greater breathing comfort or "live on the dosage edge" (taking the minimum to breath) and suffer from the symptoms of asthma and chronic bronchitis.
Tests are often not necessary in the case of acute bronchitis, as the disease is generally easy to detect through your description of symptoms and a physical exam. In cases of chronic bronchitis, the physician will likely get a X ray of your chest along with pulmonary function tests to measure how well your lungs are functioning. In some cases of chronic bronchitis, oral steroids to reduce inflammation or supplemental oxygen may be needed. In healthy people with bronchitis who have no chronic health problems and regular lungs, are generally not needed. Your lungs are vulnerable to diseases, if you have chronic bronchitis.

Bronchitis and Prednisone
Was on quite high doses of prednisone for a muscle ailment I have, and I had a hard time with it. With High milligrams doses it can cause weight gain, not being able to sleep, and for me it didnt help my muscle situation, but that is because my disease didnt react "typicaly" to the high doses. It should have relieved the inflammation in my muscles but because "My" body tends never to react generally, I had to be weened off of it, I 'd MORE inflammation and my face blew up over night effecting my visual field(wasnt fairly.
She actually is only seeing a RT who then went for 2 weeks on vacation and set her on 100mg of prednisone a day. They mistreated her again and she went to the ER and distributed some meds that were not supposed to be compatible with her prescriptions.
